Opera in the Neighborhood

Join us on Monday, February 3rd when Opera Iowa (an educational program of the DMMO) comes to Moulton Extended Learning Center for a FREE performance of Donizetti's 'The Elixir of Love'. The performance is open to the public - bring your friends and neighbors! More about 'The Elixir of Love': Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love mixes love, jealousy and mysterious libations in a romantic comedy that OPERA Iowa will present for evening concerts. Young Nemorino is in love with the wealthy but fickle Adina. When Sergeant Belcore also sets his sights on Adina, Nemorino turns to visiting “doctor” Dulcamara for an “elixir of love,” guaranteed to turn Adina’s head and win her heart. Heads turn, but who wins her heart? The Elixir of Love lasts approximately 2 hours with an intermission. More about the tour: The 2014 OPERA Iowa tour kicks off on February 3 in Des Moines with a FREE community performance of The Elixir of Love at the Moulton Extended Learning Center at 1541 8th Street, Des Moines, IA 50309 at 7:00pm. The troupe will perform community concerts of The Elixir of Love all over the state in areas like Coralville, Estherville, Ft. Dodge, Grinnell and Sioux Center but the February 3 concert is the only performance of The Elixir of Love in the Des Moines area. All community performances are free and open to the public.
